2019 Fun Week: A Journey through English and French literature

Secondary Education

The students of second year of Secondary Education showed us a series of drawings that they drew in their Arts and Crafts class. They depicted scenes from some stories by Edgar Allan Poe or Arthur Conan Doyle that they had read in their English class. They also described the techniques they used to create these fabulous paintings like pointillism, lines and dots. The students contextualized what we were seeing by telling us information about the stories. Finally, they asked us some questions about the presentations.

Our students of third year of Secondary Education completed a project on an Edgar Allan Poe short story, “The Masque of the Red Death”. The students showed us the story using QR codes for the videos they had shot in which they had represented this story. Augmented reality and interactive polls were also included in this wonderful project.

The students of Secondary Education from AYS had the chance to enjoy a literary escape room on Friday. They were divided into 4 Houses: Air, Earth, Water and Fire. After watching a presentation about the escape room, the game started.

A mixture of physical activities, challenges and questions to be answered from the stories that they had read in their English class, the escape room was great fun. Burpees, tennis games, relay races and many other games were part of this escape room in which literary knowledge and physical endurance, speed and balance were needed.

Snow White (Nursery)

We also attended a representation of the popular story of Snow White. The actress interacted with the students, they danced, jumped and some of them also volunteered to be part of the story! The English level was simple and suitable for their age, so they could understand what the story was about. The pupils really enjoyed it. Also, they were really happy because they couldn’t believe that Snow White was there. They had the time of their lives!

British authors timeline (Primary Education)

On Thursday, we were able to see a British authors timeline created by students of Primary Education. There we could scan and read QR codes which included some information about writers from Shakespeare to J.K Rowling. Each PowerPoint included personal information, curiosities or even videos about each author. We learnt a lot of new information!!!!
